Root Canals

Smiling beautiful young womanEvery tooth in your mouth has a pulp chamber in the center. The nerves in your teeth travel from the pulp chambers down small canals in your tooth roots. When the pulp in your tooth’s pulp chamber gets infected, it can affect these nerves and cause you a serious chronic toothache. If you are suffering from an agonizing toothache that won’t go away, it might be a sign that you require root canal therapy.

Root canal therapy, or endodontic treatment, is performed on teeth that have suffered serious damage that has reached the pulp chamber. Before root canals were performed, these teeth had to be extracted. A root canal allows patients to keep their teeth, and it soothes and relieves the toothaches. Patients who are suffering from a terrible toothache are distracted by it, and can’t enjoy regular day to day activities. The toothache can keep them from sleeping, and eating. Root canals provide patients with relief, and allows them to enjoy themselves and feel comfortable and healthy again.

stock27When a root canal is performed, Dr. DiSano will first go in and clean out the infected area. He will clean deep into the tooth and remove all of the infection from the pulp chamber. Once the infection has been removed and the tooth has been completely sterilized on the inside, he will fill in the tooth, and cap it with a beautiful porcelain crown. The porcelain crown will protect your tooth from further infection, and will allow you to enjoy a confident beautiful smile. Our porcelain crowns look and feel just like your regular teeth and are crafted for perfect occlusion.
